Ranbir Kapoor’s sister, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, recently appeared in the Netflix series Fabulous Lives Vs Bollywood Wives. While promoting the show, Riddhima opened up about the period following her father, actor Rishi Kapoor’s death, when social media users trolled her family for appearing happy.
Speaking to Galatta India, Riddhima recalled, “There were a lot of times when people used to say things to us like, ‘Oh, they look so happy,’ ‘They are going out or doing this,’ but have they come home to see what happens? They only look at the outer side. On the face, everything looked great, but they were not there to see what we were going through.”
Rishi Kapoor died on April 30, 2020, at the age of 67 after battling leukemia for a couple of years. Prior to his death, he had undergone treatment in New York before returning to India.
Riddhima added that just because the family was not showing their pain doesn’t mean they were not in pain. “Just because one doesn’t put it out there does not mean the person is not suffering. No suffering is big or smallâæ even when people say someone is privileged or has everything, how do you know the insecurity another person is facing?” she said.
Rishi Kapoor was a celebrated Indian actor who graced numerous Bollywood films. He started his career as a child artist and later made his Bollywood debut with Bobby in 1973. His last film was Sharmaji Namkeen, which was released posthumously in 2022.
